Job descriptionHelp facilitate legal education sessions for multilingual communities (in-person and online). Assist with developing and revising workshop materials in collaboration with multilingual facilitators. Create and deliver training for multilingual facilitators to ensure high-quality and culturally responsive delivery. Design inquiry-based lesson plans in collaboration with youth, teachers, and JES staff. Pilot and refine lessons through student feedback. Prepare resources for publication on LawLessons.ca. Create train-the-trainer resources for teachers, intermediaries, and facilitators. Develop and revise culturally responsive workshop materials. Support and train multilingual facilitators to deliver accessible, accurate legal education. Deliver engaging training workshops both online and in-person for youth and multilingual audiences. Contribute to other JES legal education initiatives, particularly those focused on youth and multilingual communities. Education degree or equivalent experience in curriculum design, teaching, adult learning, or instructional design. 3+ years experience in curriculum development, or training design. 3+ years experience teaching and working with youth. Demonstrated experience working with diverse and multilingual communities, understanding the needs of clients and communities. Self-motivated with analytical skills and ability to solve problems and propose solutions. Strong understanding of inquiry-based and experiential learning approaches. Experience with evaluation and iterative program design. Strong networking and relationship building skills Preference given to those with a working knowledge of the Canadian Justice System, BC legal help service and resources, and / or the everyday legal needs of individuals. Multilingual skills are an asset (especially those with fluent Spanish, Mandarin or Farsi). Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to anticipate project needs and discern work priorities. Proficient with Microsoft Office / 365 and Google Workspace applications. Ability to work occasional evenings.

The Justice Education Society of British Columbia (JES) is a non-profit organization with over 36 years of experience providing public legal education and justice system capacity building in Canada and overseas. In Canada, JES helps more than 700,000 British Columbians learn about our justice system and address their legal issues.

THE ROLE
We are seeking a Instructor- Curriculum Developer with strong educational expertise and a passion for access to justice. The successful candidate will design and pilot engaging legal education materials for youth and create curriculum resources for BC teachers. They will also support the development and delivery of legal education to multilingual communities and help support our train the trainer initiatives.
THE PROJECTS
Youth Legal Capability Project
A 2.5 year project, JES will design and pilot nine lesson plans to build youth legal capability. The Instructor-Curriculum Developer will :
- Co-create lessons with youth, teachers, and JES staff.
- Pilot lessons with students (50 sessions annually).
- Evaluate and refine lessons to ensure they are interactive and effective.
- Train 150 teachers annually to deliver lessons.
Ask JES Multilingual Project
This initiative delivers legal education workshops in multiple languages to immigrant and newcomer communities across BC. The project provides plain-language legal information and builds community capacity to respond to legal issues. The Instructor-Curriculum Developer will :
