DESCRIPTION :
The Technical Specialist will effectively provide Phoenix Contact’s customers with in-depth knowledge and expertise on all Phoenix Contact products including but not limited to Industrial automation, networking, power system, instrumentation, and connectivity. The Technical Specialist will work in close collaboration with Sales and Product Marketing to ensure effective support is available for all Phoenix Contact products.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provide product and application technical support for all Phoenix Contact products.
Provide pre-sales support with the selection and application of products, and system solutions to customers’ needs
Provide after sales support, through telephone consultations, application assistance, and troubleshooting applications
Proof of concept testing and demonstrating the application and solutions to the customer
Testing products to solve technical support questions
Assistance to all departments regarding product or technical questions
Develop and maintain a good relationship with distributors and customers via positive help and attitude following the “Attributes that contribute to the provision of Excellence in Customer Service”.
Provide support required by distributors (cross referencing competitor’s products, product recommendation and inform field sales as necessary)
Assist and provide product training to distributors, customers and field sales as required
Assist in building demo boards and control panels
Qualify and develop leads for field sales
Recommend and document improvements to technical support procedures
Work with our Quality team to review customer complaint and make sure all products are complying to Phoenix Contact standards
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Electrical Engineering technologist certification or equivalent
Experience and knowledge with PLC programming and industrial automation
Experience and knowledge of Electrical and power systems
Knowledge of electronic components such as rectifiers and voltage dividers
Previous experience working in a technical support / advisory role
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written
Evidence of being a self-learner, eager to continue learning / study
Experience and knowledge of industrial safety systems and / or standards
Knowledge of Canadian approvals and standards such as CSA, UL
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Attendance in accordance with company policies and participation in local, regional, and (inter)national meetings
Must be able to lift demo products, approx. 20-25 lbs
Must be able to travel as required / visit customer sites
Must have a valid driver’s license
