Clinical Educator Lead
Full-Time
Summary of Duties :
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Clinical Educator Lead will develop and support the implementation of the organization's corporate and interprofessional education and orientation programs.
Through ongoing collaborative assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, the Clinical Educator Lead, is responsible for sustaining and expanding Perley Health's corporate and interprofessional education programming to ensure it meets Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) requirements, while being continually tailored to the ongoing learning needs of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead and oversee the Clinical Education team
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, including the Knowledge Translation team and Center of Excellence (CoE), for educational content development, implementation and dissemination.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts, to create the organization's annual education plan to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Monitor and prepare quarterly / semi-annual reports on the progress of the education plan and realign priorities as required.
- Responsible for education and orientation compliance with MLTC legislation, Accreditation Canada requirements, industry standards and best practices.
- Lead annual and ongoing learning needs assessments of the organizational environment to guide program evolution (including orientation).
- Collaborate with content experts and internal / external talent to promote new educational content
- Lead the expansion of the education program by seeking new learning initiatives and specific opportunities that arise.
- Developing structures and processes which integrate evidence-informed practice in policies, procedures, practice guidelines, and standards.
- Act as a resource, advocate, facilitator, and coordinator in all matters which impact practice, and is responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with clinical and other leaders, and members of the interprofessional team.
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop employee learning plans as required.
- Develop, implement and evaluate a mentorship program for the interdisciplinary clinical team.
- Implement practice, process and system changes to meet key performance indicators, enhance learner engagement, knowledge retention and behavior change.
- Participate in Quality Improvement Teams as required.
- Seek out and leverage external funding opportunities to maximize educational capacity within the organization.
- Support the ongoing professional development of staff.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to secure funding for educational support ( Perley Health Foundation), ensure agreed upon processes and application processes are followed correctly to access funds in a timely manner.
- Lead the expansion of the educational program by seeking new learning initiatives and specific opportunities that arise.
- Manage and oversee the Learning Management System (LMS).
- In collaboration with the Perley Health Foundation, develop, implement and support the administration of nursing and interprofessional scholarships / bursaries.
- Develop, implement and support the education needs during annual Nursing Week.
- Monitor education and professional development budgets
- Provide subject matter expertise on diverse educational modalities, behavioral science, active learning strategies, adult learning styles, and learner engagement.
- Develop and deliver a supporting infrastructure for a culture of learning and improvement (tools, systems, training)
