As part of the Institute of Skilled Trades faculty team in the Automotive Service Technician (Apprenticeship) program, you will:

  • Deliver theoretical and hands on practical shop training along with classroom instruction
  • Share real-life industry knowledge and troubleshooting experience
  • Mentor and support students entering the trade

  • Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and industry partners
  • Stay current with evolving technology and industry practices

This role combines shop instruction with modern teaching tools and blended learning approaches, including in-class, online, and off-site instruction, as well as occasional evening and weekend sessions.

What you'll need

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

We're seeking experienced tradespeople who are passionate about the industry and interested in helping others succeed.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal certification in Automotive Service Technician
  • A minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent journeyperson experience in the automotive service industry
  • Strong technical knowledge in Diagnostic Software Packages, Manual and Automotive Transmission Repairs, Air Conditioning Service and Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Servicing and Repair.
  • Comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to safety, mentorship, and lifelong learning

Previous teaching experience or related experience in the delivery of educational program or training adults would be an asset, but not required. If you've coached apprentices, trained coworkers, or shared your knowledge on the shop floor, you already have valuable experience to build on.

NOTE: Two years of your training will be counted towards the educational requirements and cannot be included as part of your occupational experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Faculty salaries currently range from approximately $78,771 to $104,267 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

In addition to salary, NSCC offers:

  • A defined benefit pension plan to support long-term financial security
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage, including vision, paramedical services, life insurance, Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP), and more
  • Up to 45+ days of paid vacation and recognized holidays, including paid time off between Christmas and New Year's
  • Professional development and training opportunities to support ongoing learning and career growth

Make an Impact

The trades need experienced professionals willing to pass on their knowledge. This is your opportunity to shape the future of industry while building a healthier, more balanced future for yourself.

If you're ready to bring your trade experience into the classroom and help develop the next generation of technicians, we'd love to hear from you.
