As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications: This is a working level position utilizing technical skills & judgment performing a diverse range of diagnostic procedures within the Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, & Specimen Procurement departments, within the scope of practice of a MLT. The position includes days, evenings, weekends & on-call with a 30 minute response time. Current experience in Biochemistry, Hematology, & Transfusion Medicine required. The ability to effectively communicate in English. Good organizational, interpersonal & communication skills. Ability to assume responsibility, working independently & promote good teamwork, under pressure and in emergency situations. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, attention to detail, & adaptable. Ability to demonstrate tact & courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, & physicians. Practices effective infection control, & safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Demonstrated desire & actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Has the ability to prioritize workload & adapt to stressful situations using tact & diplomacy. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Evidence of CSMLS certification may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the past two years: Connect Care LIS: Epic and Wellsky experience and knowledge. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Current phlebotomy experience. Working with; Vitros XT 3400, Dxh600, ACL Elite Pro, ISTAT, Triage, Ortho Gel method, Access II.
