The Custody Services Division - Workforce Planning and Development Branch seeks dynamic, self-motivated, highly organized and committed professionals to assume the role of Training Specialist.
Training Specialists are responsible and accountable leaders who embrace diversity and equality, and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Dedicated to service excellence, we demonstrate innovation, collaboration and transparency, practice effective and accountable use of resources and promote engagement and leadership at all levels.
In this exciting role, you will contribute to the development of training materials (including web-based e-learning modules), facilitate learning and development initiatives for new and existing employees and support the division’s ongoing recruitment, training and retention strategies.
Our ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of :
- Custody and community operations (youth and adult), departments and programs;
- Relevant legislation, policy and standards;
- Correctional programs, services and practices;
- Human resource principles – competency-based staffing model;
- Adult learning principles, theories, methodologies, strategies and approaches;
- Group dynamics and group facilitation / presentation / practices / techniques;
- Curriculum development and implementation processes; and
- Multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives, with a particular emphasis on First Nations and Metis issues.
You will be an exceptional communicator and possess the following skills and attributes :
Typically, the competencies for this position are acquired through the successful completion of a human services or education degree coupled with experience designing and delivering training materials or programs to adult learners.
Experience facilitating correctional concepts / theories and physical skills training within a custody or community environment would be seen as an asset.
