Position Overview
The President and CEO (PCEO), subject to the policies and directions of the Board of Directors, shall be responsible and accountable for the strategic, operational leadership, and management of the Misericordia Health Centre. The PCEO will ensure that operations are translated into actionable patient care and compassionate care initiatives and meets the tenets of Service Purchase Agreements, enhance programs and services to meet the emerging needs and priorities. The President and CEO champions operational excellence through a culture of continuous improvement and innovation and upholds Misericordia’s Catholic faith-based mission and values including, ethical decision making and the Misericordia Sisters’ legacy.
In addition, the President and CEO communicates and collaborates with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) with respect to matters which will have system-wide impact guided by the Service Purchase Agreement.
Experience
- 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience delivering a broad spectrum of health and clinical services in a large, publicly funded health services delivery organization including:
– 10 years of health experience in senior leadership roles in complex operating environments with significant organizational change delivering services in a24/7/365 critical systems environment, leading a team unionized and non-unionized staff.
– 10 years of clinical operations management experience leading a health service providing multidisciplinary services.
– 10 years of experience participating in strategic and operational planning, implementing operational directives, and achieving formal quality, patient safety, service integration and partner collaboration goals and objectives.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Completion of a post-graduate degree in health-related field recognized preparation in Health Care Administration at the Master’s Level certification/licensure.
- A postgraduate degree in health leadership, management, business or public administration is an asset.
- Specialized training in project management, health management, health policy, process analysis/improvement, organizational change management and cultural awareness are considered assets.
- MHA, MBA or equivalent; Certified Health Executive (CHE) preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.

- Works within MHC’s core values, philosophy, vision, strategic and quality goals, policies and procedures.
- Ability to function as an effective, collaborative, results-oriented leader of an interdisciplinary team senior leadership team, including excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated executive leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the framework.
- Proven strong stakeholder engagement skills at all levels; have the ability to translate strategic vision into action.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills with ability to influence others and interact effectively with all staff levels within the organization.
- Interruptions to respond to questions from executives and government representatives are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
- Commitment to customer-focused service is essential while demonstrating a high level of integrity, dependability, honesty, initiative, tact, and high ethical standards.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, oral and writing skills along with proven level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Adheres to the organization’s policies, Code of Conduct, Mission and Values.
- Complies with the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) Legislation to ensure confidentiality in all matters pertaining to hospital, patients, their families, and staff members.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
