Exciting news, Kelly is currently hiring for a Cost Accounting Clerk role with Dow Chemical - Onsite at Fort Saskatchewan Site!
Title : Cost Accounting Clerk
Location : Fort Saskatchewan, AB (Onsite)
Duration : 8 months
Schedule : 4 / 10 (Mon to Thu) or 5 / 8’s (Mon to Fri)
Job description :
Performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting activities in cost accounting or a related financial area. Processes and posts information. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field.
This is a short-term position to cover Spring and Fall 2025 turnarounds.
Primary Responsibilities
Use facility strategy, operation’s scope, engineering estimates, and historical data to build a 3.1.3 Budget Estimate based off known TA scope.
Use other resources to estimate new / unique jobs as appropriate.
Develops definition Estimate based on SAP plans, engineering estimates, and vendor estimates
Use planner data to estimate all add-ons and input data into ROI.
Assists with the development of the Plan for Management and Control as it pertains to Cost Management.
Facilitate the building and optimization of a headcount based estimate for major service providers that will bill based on time & material.
Ensure that all management reports accurately reflect this plan
Analyze and report variances from headcount and cost plan as work progresses (Playbook 10)
Calculate and Report cost estimate at completion (forecasts) that include the most up to date plan for service providers and work scope.
Accrue all costs in accordance with Dow expense guidelines
Provides data to Turnaround Manager for START updates
Takes appropriate action to resolve cost discrepancies and issues
Finalize & archive all cost information and assists with generations of financial portion of the closure report
Variances >
10% between Planner vs Actual costs must be validated and job plans updated to reflect what actually happened in the field.
Billable man-hours reconciled against planned man-hours by contractor by job by contractor by job
Changes in billable man-hours from field change orders, discoveries and add-ons received after feed off must be reconciled with contractor invoices.
Education requirement : Education : 4 years degree, accounting or related.
Computer skills : Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, SAP and Power BI is a plus. Experience with any accounting software not required but is an asset.
