Reporting directly to the Regional Manager of Quality and Food Safety Canada, the Quality Assurance Manager will work closely with the Operations, Sales, Logistics and Engineering / Maintenance departments by providing leadership to maintain the facilities Food Safety and Quality programs, ensuring our products meet or exceed the quality standards and food safety requirements of the company and our customers.
The QA Manager will lead and develop the QA and Sanitation departments.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Design, implement, maintain and monitor HAACP / Preventive Control Plans and Food Safety and Quality programs
Lead all audits - GFSI Certification and customer
Lead with respect to Foreign Material Prevention
Works closely with a variety of departments (Operations, Logistics, Production, Engineering / Maintenance) to ensure Food Safety and Quality programs are maintained
Leads Internal audit program is performed as per the Internal Audit Program and presents findings during daily and weekly meetings. Follow up on CAPA’s to ensure closure
Maintain and improve quality systems by continuous improvement of HACCP / Preventive Control Plans and Food Safety and Quality programs against the BRC Standard
Provide immediate feedback to management team with regards to food safety and quality issues
Main contact with regulatory agencies and third party auditors
Motivate and recognize employees to continue to build and develop a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility
Lead with regards to customer / consumer complaints and communicate daily and weekly during meeting to management team
Liaison for all customers communication and requests
Keep Regional Manager QA and Food Safety Canada aware of any problems / issues / concerns
Other duties and projects as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements :
Education / Certifications / Experience :
Post-secondary education in food science, chemistry or related fields
Food Manufacturing experience – 3 – 5 years
QA Manager experience – 3 – 5 years
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Sound knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and GFSI principles and programs – BRC and HACCP Certified an asset
Excellent computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Statistical software)
Good working knowledge of Statistical Process Control in an industrial environment
Fast learner, able to multi-task, self-motivated, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy of information
Good written and verbal communication skills. Preference given to bilingual candidates
Positive attitude and professional approach. Positively interact with all plant employees – promote productive relationships based on credibility and trust
Ability to multi-task and work in a highly organized fashion with attention to detail and accuracy
Good understanding of production - plant and office procedures
Proven leader with strong leadership skills with proven track record in developing teams.
