The incumbent will focus on driving business development activities to build a pipeline of M&A opportunities. This will involve developing, qualifying, and nurturing relationships with CEO / Founders of potential acquisition targets against defined acquisition criteria.
Main duties include (but are not limited to) :
- Executing on existing go-to-market plans targeting Communications & Media software businesses to build and grow a pipeline of M&A opportunities.
- Identifying, contacting (including cold-calling, email, trade shows, etc.), scheduling appointments, and developing relationships with owners of vertical market software companies.
- Understanding our acquisition criteria as well as unique value proposition and engaging in meaningful dialogue with owners of software businesses.
- Generating and reporting on leads, setting up qualified appointments, and moving opportunities through the M&A pipeline.
- Arranging roadshows, identifying, and attending relevant conferences and tradeshows to generate leads and build relationships with prospects.
- Developing and executing on tailored digital marketing campaigns which relate directly to the buyer persona and target vertical markets of the portfolio.
- Travel (approximately 10%).
- 3+ years of experience and proven success within a business development role in the software industry.
- Experience in leveraging digital marketing campaigns to generate leads and prospect engagement.
- Self-motivated, hands-on attitude with a sense of urgency towards generating a pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Strong judgment and relationship building skills to facilitate productive meetings with business owners.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication with excellent presentation skills.
- Collaborative and team-oriented approach with a desire to leverage technical experts and senior management to assist in closing opportunities.
- Ability to work under pressure while still meeting targets and deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to fully meet the needs of the role.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Additional language skills considered an asset.
- Experience working in a high volume, metrics driven sales environment, ideally in software or a venture backed SaaS company.
- Basic financial literacy.
- A bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field is an asset.
- Preference given to individuals with industry experience.
