Job Description :

Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests

Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds or performing surgery

Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases

Advise clients on feeding, housing, behavior, breeding, hygiene and general care of animals

Perform routine, emergency and post-mortem examinations

Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry and euthanasia

Supervise animal health technologist and animal care workers

• Maintaining accurate medical records and communicating with pet owners about diagnosis and care.
• Collaborating with veterinary support staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements :

Education : Two years of pre-veterinary university studies or completion of a college program in health science and a four to five year university degree in veterinary medicine and successful completion of an examination leading to a national certification are required.

Experience : A minimum of 1 year of experience as a veterinarian is required.

Successful completion of BCSE and NAVLE exams, if applicable.

A provincial licensure is required.

Computer and technology knowledge : Must be familiar with online browsers and MS Office. Training on the Practice management software will be provided.

Important Information : Flexibility on schedule is required. The selected candidate will work 5 days per week on a rotational basis. This will include day, evening, and overnight shifts. Work on Weekends and on holidays is required. Overtime may be required depending on the business needs. Regular shifts go from 8 am to 4 pm, 11 am to 7 pm, 2 pm to 10 pm and 7 pm to 8 am.
