The Division of Cardiology at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC), University Health Network (UHN), a University of Toronto (U of T) academic health science centre, is seeking a qualified full-time Clinical Academic Cardiologist with expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The successful candidate will fulfill the role of Clinician Scientist and must be eligible for a full-time clinical (MD) or status-only academic appointment within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, U of T, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Applications will be accepted until July 1, 2025, or until the position is filled. The start date is September 1, 2025, or a mutually agreed upon date.

The candidate should have an established record of accomplishment in AI, dedicating approximately 70% of their time to developing and implementing AI algorithms. Formal training or experience in AI, preferably with a Master’s or PhD, is required to develop and maintain a research platform in AI. Experience in creating new AI technologies and research methodologies is essential. The candidate will join the PMCC AI Team and utilize the digital assets and infrastructure established in the PMCC and UHN. Preference will be given to applicants with research interests aligned with PMCC priorities such as heart valve, coronary, aortic diseases, and heart function.

The clinical duties include coverage of the inpatient Cardiology service and outpatient management of cardiology patients. Academic excellence will be evaluated through peer review of research outputs, innovations, peer-reviewed publications, conference invitations, speaking engagements, and recognitions. The candidate must demonstrate independent academic work in AI and a commitment to advancing AI scholarship.

The successful candidate will report to the Division Director of Cardiology at UHN / Sinai Health System. Candidates must hold an MD degree or equivalent, be eligible for certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and possess licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The primary language of work is English. Compensation will align with the usual range for an experienced academic Cardiologist in Ontario, based on qualifications and experience. Additional income sources and benefits are available according to institutional policies, including partial reimbursement for start-up office expenses.
