Job description

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

As part of the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Corporate Services (CS) team plays a critical role in supporting the entire organization. Comprised of Corporate Communications & Stakeholder Relations, Corporate Policy, Corporate Privacy & Information, Sourcing and Vendor Performance, Strategy & Business Transformation, Social Impact & Environmental Sustainability and the Enterprise Project Management Office, CS is driven by customer-service and taking action to advise, consult and support each business area throughout the LDB.

The CS team is comprised of approximately 70 staff. What brings CS together as a team is the ability to work together to support both the operational areas of the business and other corporate service areas (e.g., Corporate Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology). The group has a strategic lens with a focus on ensuring the organization aligns and complies with corporate priorities, policies, legislation, best practices, and government mandate.

About this role :

Reporting to the Director, Social Impact & Environmental Sustainability, the Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for the creative development and all aspects of full production for digital content (website, e-newsletters, digital screens, advertisements, etc.), collateral (posters, signage, etc.), and branded materials for the LDB Social Impact & Environmental Sustainability team. This role incorporates and maintains corporate standards for illustration or photography, photo and illustration banks, and typography guides for LDB's Social Impact branded materials.

Work includes image files (e.g., photography), representational sketches and final illustrations, type and assembly, graphic art, animations, juxtaposition, visual materials, layout and design for final production files for printers.

A successful completion of a criminal record check is required.

Position requirements :

Education and Experience :

Degree or diploma in marketing, graphic design or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience.

A combination of education, training and experience may be considered i.e., secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certification, and courses in marketing, graphic design or a related discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience.

  • Recent, related experience is defined as experience occurring within the last 6 years and must include the following :
  • Experience developing and managing the design aspects related to a corporate brand.
  • Experience with graphic layout and design, as well as producing reports and / or publications.
  • Experience creating design material for internal and external audiences.

Preference may be given to those candidates with the following :

  • Experience in graphic design, illustration, brand development, and brand management.
  • Experience as a graphic designer within a government, public sector, or similar highly-regulated environment, demonstrating the ability to work within established protocols and standards.
  • Experience leading design projects from concept to completion, including the ability to manage timelines and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience managing and curating design portfolios showcasing a diverse range of corporate and professional projects across multiple media platforms, including print, digital, and web.
  • Experience with driving design solutions that align with company vision, business goals, objectives and target audience needs.
  • Experience designing materials that comply with government procurement, budget constraints, and environmental sustainability guidelines.
  • Experience in designing government-related materials (e.g., reports, publications, public service campaigns, etc.), demonstrating an understanding of public sector communication goals.
  • Experience working with multiple departments and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience creating materials and communicating for social impact-related projects.
  • Experience working within a government and / or unionized environment.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working with Graphics on a PC or Mac.
