Job description

Research Coordinator III - Improving Cancer Care Equity

Women's College Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Job Description

Posted Friday, March 28, 2025 at 4 : 00 AM | Expires Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3 : 59 AM

Women's College Hospital (WCH) is an academic, ambulatory care hospital in Ontario with a focus on health for women, health equity and health system solutions. If you're ready to be part of a team that is revolutionizing the future of healthcare, then you will want to join an institution where the possibilities for innovation, new discovery and system thinking are limitless. Women's College Hospital is committed to equity, quality and patient safety as key professional values and essential components of daily practice.

Healthcare Revolutionized 2030 is our roadmap to the future. Our strategy is built on the pledge that the founders of our hospital made 140 years ago and reaffirms our commitment to providing equitable, accessible, best-in-class healthcare for everyone – meeting people where they are on their healthcare journey and partnering with them to reach their goals of living their healthiest lives possible. The stage has been set for Women’s to accelerate our priorities and capture the momentum to catapult our system forward to revolutionize healthcare for everyone.

Applicants must reside and be legally eligible to work in Ontario.

This is a Temporary Full-Time Role

Type : New

Cervical cancer, primarily caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), is largely preventable. Despite global and national strategies to eliminate cervical cancer, Canada faces an annual increase in cases, mostly among those who are under-screened. Social inequalities often make it difficult for certain groups to access cervical cancer screening programs. Factors like a person's income, racial or ethnic background, where they live, their age, level of education, cultural practices, immigration status, sexual orientation, gender identity and any disabilities they may have can create obstacles within the healthcare system. These barriers prevent equitable access to and participation in cervical screening. In this patient-partnered, person-centered research study, WCH Scientists, Dr. Ambreen Sayani and Dr. Aisha Lofters are mobilizing knowledge to remove barriers and improve access to cervical screening for all people with a cervix experiencing marginalization, thus contributing to the broader goal of eliminating cervical cancer in Canada by 2040.

Specifically, the project objectives are to :

  • Co-create and user-test public-facing outreach materials on cervical screening (including self-sampling).
  • Co-create and user-test provider-facing resources to promote gender-sensitive, trauma-informed, non-stigmatizing screening conversations.
  • Co-develop and disseminate a systems-facing framework to guide best practices in equity-oriented cervical screening within organized screening programs in Canada.

The project team is seeking an experienced Research Coordinator III to support successful achievement of project objectives.

Summary of Duties but Not Limited To :

  • Lead qualitative research methods from recruitment to data analysis to knowledge dissemination.
  • Generate progress and summary reports for the Principal Investigators.
  • Assist with enhancing relationships among existing stakeholders including patient partners; help with the development of new partnerships.
  • Monitor the progress and deadlines of research activities, develop and maintain records of research activities, and establish and maintain operating policies and procedures.

  • Proactively identify barriers / threats / risks for project completion and work with team members including Investigators and Research Assistants to develop solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Investigator(s) and other relevant partners involved in the project both internally and externally.

  • Implement quality control processes throughout the conduct of the study including ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collection and investigating all missing or apparently invalid data.
  • Apply theoretical frameworks when analyzing data in accordance with study protocol.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain Research Ethics Board (REB) applications both internally as well as submissions to external organizations (if applicable), track ethics approvals, and complete renewals / amendments as needed.
  • Collaborate with Investigator and / or team members to write and edit presentations, reports, budgets, proposals, publications, conference materials, and manuscripts.
  • Assist with knowledge translation activities.
  • Plan and coordinate regular meetings for working groups, steering committees, and advisory boards.

  • Present seminars and in-services internally.
  • Train and supervise the day-to-day activities of research staff, students, and volunteers working in the research program.
