Job Description : ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Implement the daytoday operations of the program which includes (but is not limited to) recreational games crafts Bible lessons and other scheduled events.
Supervise and interact with and support all day camp campers.
Work cooperatively with the Youth Ministries and Outreach Coordinator church staff and volunteers in all aspects of the program.
Participate in the Summer Day Camp mentoring program for Day Camp staff and campers.
General Accountabilities
Perform other relevant duties as assigned i.e. setup and camp cleanup.
Ensure the highest standard of health and safety for all campers volunteers and staff.
Assist with ensuring the emotional wellness and personal development of campers.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and
safety policies and procedures.
Participate in the Summer Day Camp mentoring program for Day Camp staff and campers.
Support campers to develop socially mentally and spiritually.
Know and act in accordance with policies and procedures of The Salvation Army to ensure the safety and confidentiality of participants and information.
Act in cases of urgency or emergency in alignment with camp policies and procedures.
Written and Verbal Communication
Document processes report as needed and recommendations to resolve issues and problems.
Reporting
Create and maintain a list of reports required for health and safety compliance purposes.
Support external reporting requests as needed.
Perform other related duties as required.

Corps Officers Youth Ministries and Outreach Coordinator other staff volunteers and campers.
Attend all staff training / orientation and meetings.
External : Family members.
MANAGERIAL / TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY :
Reports directly to : Youth Ministries and Outreach Coordinator

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT :

Assist with ensuring the maintenance of day camp materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
This is a temporary fulltime position based on 35 hours per week.
Working environment is in a day camp setting both indoor and outdoor in generally agreeable Conditions with the following exceptions exposure to tantrums and noise.
Ability to lift / move up to 29 lbs.
This job requires reaching bending and stooping frequently working in a standing position for long
periods of time.
Normal hours of work : Monday to Friday 8 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m. and includes a hour unpaid meal break. Some flexibility in scheduling is required. The hours of work and work schedule will be set by the supervisor as per operational requirements.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Submit as required a Police Record Check (vulnerable sector check) that is acceptable to The
Salvation Army in its sole discretion if applicable.
This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria :
aged 15 to 30 years at the beginning of the employment period;
o be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has
o been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
o holds a valid Social Insurance Number; and
o be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
An ongoing condition of employment is the ability to maintain immigration status to legally
remain and work in Canada which is supported by valid immigration documents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS :
Education Qualifications and Certifications :
Completed a minimum of grade nine 9.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements :
Prior volunteer and / or work experience working directly with children in a day camp setting preferred.
Current valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certification is an asset.
Have own computer with a reliable internet connection as file access and meetings may take place online.
Skills and Capabilities :

Able to help support other camp staff with childrens individual behavioral needs.

Must comply with all Salvation Army policies procedures and associated legislation.

Compensation :
The target hiring range for this position is $17.20 to $20.01 with a maximum of $24.01.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
