Company Description
The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization providing acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities. NBRHC also serves as the district referral center offering specialist services for smaller communities and is the specialized mental health service provider for northeast Ontario. NBRHC houses 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services throughout the northeast region. Affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and other educational institutions, NBRHC is a major teaching center for students in medicine, psychiatry, nursing, and allied health professions.
Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role for an Ambulance Communications Officer located in North Bay, ON. The Ambulance Communications Officer will be responsible for coordinating emergency responses, dispatching ambulances, and handling emergency and non-emergency calls. Duties include assessing the nature of calls, providing pre-arrival instructions, and maintaining accurate records of all communications activities. The officer will work closely with paramedics, emergency services, and healthcare providers to ensure timely and efficient emergency responses.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication and Strategic Communications skills
- Experience in Media Relations, Press Releases, and Writing
- Ability to work efficiently under high-pressure situations
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Proficiency in using dispatch and communication systems
- Understanding of emergency response protocols and procedures
- Relevant certifications and training in emergency communications are a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in communications or emergency services is beneficial
