SALARY RANGE : $134,000.00 - $153,000.00 CAD

LOCATION : Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

TYPE OF RIG : Floatel Endurance; Semi-Submersible Accommodation and Construction Support Vessel (ASV)

ROTATION : 28 / 28

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Contract, Full Time

CONTRACT : Short Term Contract; Estimate Seven (7) Months

NUMBER OF POSITIONS : Two (2)

JOB SUMMARY : The role of the DP Operator II is to assist in the safe and efficient operation of the deck department and the Vessel and to be an understudy to the Chief Officer. However, DP related matters should be reported to Master / OIM directly. DP Operator II is also watch keeping Deck Officer.

PRE- REQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Canadian Watchkeeping Mate License or STCW II / 1 Equivalent
  • DP (Unlimited) Certificate
  • 2 Years Offshore Experience
  • 4 Months Semi-Sub Experience
  • Minimum 2,000 Hours Total DP Time
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background / Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Must be fully committed to working safely and to accepting responsibility for the safety of fellow crewmembers.
  • Must be fully committed to preventing damage to the environment and shall work in accordance with Floatel International’s HSE Policy and Procedures
  • Ensure full understanding of the Safety Observation and STOP system and full participation in this system
  • Assist along with Supervisor in risk assessments
  • DP Operator II, Watchkeeper when the Vessel is in DP or in conventional mode. Responsible for the safe operation of the shift and in charge of the DP Operation unless relieved by the Chief Officer. Responsible for safe navigation and conduct of the Vessel as a Watchkeeper when not in DP.
  • Assist with monitor and control all rig movements while in DP and closely monitor rig position and DP status paying particular attention to position maintenance, sensors, thruster response and performance and available power.
  • Ensure that the DP watch is conducted in accordance with IMCA recommendations and in addition to any Floatel International or Client requirements as agreed and always bearing in mind the safety of the operation.
  • Assist with keeping a close watch on the weather and make allowances for present and expected weather trends or deterioration. Inform Master / OIM if conditions are likely to deteriorate sufficiently to abandon operations, differ from the forecast or that any unexpected weather may give a reason for concern.
  • Ensure DP system is operating correctly in accordance with IMOP Guidelines for DP Vessels. Ensure all DP trials and tests are conducted as laid down in the guidelines or as required by FI or their Clients.
  • Contribute with keeping logs as to the testing, trials operations and any anomalies in the DP operation or equipment. Maintain marine operational and maintenance DP logbook.
  • Maintain shift handover book relating to the DP operation and any system or weather concerns, which may affect the operation.
  • Assist with monitoring other vessel movements within the area, inform Master / OIM in case of any concern and then take whatever necessary action to safeguard the vessel, personnel and structure before the Master / OIM arrives in the CCR.
  • Assist the monitoring and upkeep of Transponder and Positioning systems. Ensure maintenance logs are completed, and system batteries are kept fully charged.
  • Contribute to all other navigation equipment is operating correctly. Prepare Bridge for sea as required by statute and report all defects. Maintain Bridge / CCR in seagoing condition and navigational readiness at all times.
  • Supervise and conduct operations during DP / Clients audits.
  • Liaise with heads of department on running the vessel, especially within areas, which conflict between DP operations and vessel operations.
  • Assist with any administration, which may be incurred by the Vessel, FI or Client under the direction of the Chief officer.
  • In the absence of ADM, take over their function and responsibilities and liaise with the HLO.
  • Assist with the maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting equipment as directed by the Chief Officer.
  • Assist with for the upkeep, updating and correcting of all navigational charts and nautical publications. Ensure corrections are up to date and navigational warnings displayed. Ensure Vessel has on board all charts / publications for the voyage and working location.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Chief Officer
  • Comply with Permit to Work System
  • To be a part of the category management program if required
  • Maintain an up-to-date Issuing and Closing Work Permit register
  • DP Operator II is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the navigation equipment and the maintenance and advising on the ordering of navigation charts and publications.
  • DP Operator II is to assist the CHO to be in charge of Vessel’s sickbay including medicines (if no Medic). DP Operator II could be delegated to carry out medical duties if required and certified.
  • If no Safety Officer is employed, the DP Operator II is responsible for the planning and organisation of the onboard safety training program, for safety briefing to newcomers, safety-related works and the administration of the safety library.
  • When on watch the DPO II is responsible for the safety and integrity of the Vessel including ballast operations and stability and that the appointed personnel follows the relevant procedures for the loading and unloading of attending Vessels and helicopters.
  • DP Operator II is to ensure that all work on deck is carried out safely and efficiently.
  • The responsibilities also include reporting as required by the FIMS.
  • They are to follow the ISPS tasks given by the SSO
  • They are to conduct a COSHH assessment when required, provided they have adequate knowledge.
