Position Overview:

The Fueling Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily aircraft fueling activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This role supervises the fueling team, coordinates fueling schedules, and ensures adherence to all aviation fuel safety standards and company procedures. The supervisor supports operational performance by maintaining high service standards, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring aircraft are fueled accurately and on time.


This is a full-time salaried position for which regular attendance to meet immediate business demands is an essential requirement. Due to the nature of our business hours of work are to be flexible (shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays) with additional hours possibly required during certain peak periods. Position will require ability to obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport Canada or TSA and/or local Airport Authorities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise daily aircraft fueling operations and ensure all aircraft are serviced safely and on schedule.
  • Assign tasks and coordinate fueling teams to meet airline departure schedules.
  • Monitor fueling activities to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with operational procedures.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce strict compliance with aviation fuel handling procedures and safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety briefings and ensure team members follow fueling standards.
  • Monitor operations to prevent fuel spills, equipment damage, or safety hazards.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, or safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory authorities such as airport authorities and aviation regulators.

Staff Supervision and Training

  • Provide on-the-job training and ensure staff are properly certified for fueling operations.
  • Support employee development and ensure adherence to operational standards.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, employee training and development for the station.
  • Assist with scheduling and shift coverage as needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and operational discipline among team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans when required.

Equipment and Facility Monitoring

  • Ensure fueling vehicles, hydrant systems, and fueling equipment are operational and maintained.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.

Customer Service

  • Maintain professional communication with airline representatives and airport partners.
  • Ensure fueling services meet airline operational standards and timelines.
  • Address operational concerns promptly to maintain service reliability.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate fueling records, fuel tickets, and operational documentation.
  • Track fuel usage, inventory levels, and operational performance metrics.
  • Prepare shift reports and communicate operational updates to management.
  • To accomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; aviation, logistics, or technical training preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in aviation fueling, ground handling, or airport ramp operations.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of aviation fuel types and fueling procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate fueling vehicles and equipment.


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Leadership and team supervision.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Knowledge of aviation fueling safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced airport environment.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making under operational pressure.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in fueling documentation.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively in English.


Work Environment:

  • Airport ramp and operational environment.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).


Physical Demands:

  • Position may involve standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs when required.
  • Good vision and depth perception to safely operate fueling equipment and vehicles in a busy ramp environment.
