POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Delivery, Advisory Services plays a pivotal role in leading a regional team of Experts (e.g. Consultants) dedicated to delivering high-impact management consulting services to our SME clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in consulting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive client success through their team.
This position requires a strategic thinker who can effectively manage the internal delivery Consultants, provide “in the field” coaching, guidance and mentorship to new/ less experienced consultants, ensure the efficient delivery projects, understand the changing needs of our clients, and ensure both the availability and coordination of our expertise to ensure maximum impact. They will foster strong relationships across the region, the organization, and contribute to the growth and development of our Advisory Services (AS) practice.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
The Director of Delivery, will be responsible to:
Lead a regional team of internal and external consultants, providing guidance, feedback, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Foster a culture of learning and professional development, operational rigour, skills development opportunities and guidance in career progression.
Manage the delivery resources (expertise and capacity, Business Advisors and Delivery Consultants) needed to meet the needs of the region.
In collaboration with the Consultant Network Management team, oversee the roster of Delivery Consultants within the region (recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, work quality).
Manage the pace of delivery and health of the ongoing portfolio of projects. Proactively managing risks that may impact project success or client satisfaction. Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet the quality standards expected by our clients.
Work closely with the Regional VP and BD leaders to develop and implement strategies for business growth, client satisfaction, and the effectiveness of our Advisory services.
Collaborate with delivery directors in other regions to ensure standard and best practices are implemented across AS
Ensure the Delivery team’s alignment and ongoing optimization of our end-to-end workflows so that client, business development, consultant and external network are optimized to respond to client expectations.
In coordination with the Regional VP and BD Leaders, determine which valued-added non-paid activities are executed across the marketplace in conjunction with the approved strategy.
Keep up to date on evolving business trends, market conditions, and client needs in the region.
Collaborate with the Head of Expertise and Solution development team to allocate expertise capacity for solution development and maintenance
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and development of the Delivery team through team engagement on mandates, knowledge sharing and professional development.
Maintain regular and active presence in the field, joining your team in client meetings, attending and participating in client and community events.
Establish and maintain relationships with other organizations to complement BDC's value proposition of helping Canadian SMEs grow and become more competitive.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree in business, management or related field; MBA or similar/related professional designation is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in management consulting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of successfully leading consulting teams and delivering client projects.
Strong knowledge of the entrepreneurial environment and its key challenges.
Experience working with SMEs is highly desirable.
Bilingualism (French/English) is advantageous.
Some travel will be required as part of the management of a regional team.
