Job description
We’re looking for a true hunter, reporting to VP Sales and R&D, to join the organization as our Director of Business Development—someone who thrives on finding, targeting, and winning new business. In this role, you’ll own the full sales cycle and drive aggressive growth in the Foodservice and Industrial markets. You’ll build a top-tier hunt list, create winning pitch strategies, and convert high-value prospects into long-term partnerships.

This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for someone who loves being in the market, opening doors, and closing complex deals. If you’re energized by chasing new opportunities and shaping big wins, this role puts you at the center of the organization’s growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Relentlessly identify, target, and win high-value new business in alignment with the organization's strategic plan to deliver ambitious growth goals.
  • Build and own a top-tier pipeline across Foodservice and Industrial segments, cultivating strategic relationships that turn cold prospects into committed partners.
  • Stay in the field—constantly scanning the market, uncovering new opportunities, and leading competitive analysis.
  • Create and execute a disciplined Hunt List of the top 100 targets, driving pursuits, managing RFP timelines, and removing barriers to close.
  • Develop smart, profitable pricing strategies in partnership with Finance to win deals while protecting margin.
  • Craft best-in-class sales pitches and persuasive customer facing decks that differentiate the organization and elevate win rates.
  • Own the full sales cycle—from first contact to close—using a consultative, solutions-driven approach that wins trust and business.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to understand their needs and deliver tailored, high-impact solutions.
  • Partner cross-functionally (Finance, Purchasing, Ops) to deliver accurate costing, seamless onboarding, and strong customer outcomes.
  • Lead proposal creation and RFP responses that position the organization competitively.
  • Drive visibility on risks and opportunities, keeping cross-functional teams aligned through the S&OP process.
  • Own new customer onboarding from contract signing through full commercialization, ensuring flawless execution and long-term success.
  • Integrate new business smoothly, protecting profitability while driving top-line growth.
  • Prepare and deliver crisp business reports and insights weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Set up new customer accounts and ensure all internal teams are aligned for success.
Key Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in foodservice sales or business development within food manufacturing or CPG
  • Proven track record of driving new business growth within foodservice (Quick Service Restaurant, Casual Dining and Hospitality
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, prospect, and close net-new accounts, including opening new regions or channels
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience working with foodservice distributors and brokers
  • Strong understanding of foodservice sales cycles, bid processes, and menu development
  • Ability to build long-term relationships while maintaining a results-driven growth mindset
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and strategic planning skills

The salary range for this role is $115 to $135K/year. All applications are reviewed by real people — we do not use AI or automated screening tools in our recruitment process.
