This opportunity will allow you to evaluate risk and advise on contaminated sites impacted by hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline, crude oil etc.), salinity, and / or metals. As a Technical Report Author, you will contribute expertise in the following areas :

  • Participation in a team environment, working closely with and supporting Project Managers and Field Technicians;
  • Produce high quality written technical reports in support of large and small environmental site assessment, monitoring, and remediation projects;
  • Preparation of Site closure documentation (Conceptual Site Model, Record of Site Condition);
  • Compare lab results to site-specific regulatory guidelines and / or protocols for reporting needs for the various Project Coordinators, Project Managers and Project Directors;
  • Generate and QA / QC regulatory checklists, forms and other documents in support of reporting requirements to meet the site-specific project needs of provincial Contaminated Site Regulations, protocols and / or Guidelines;
  • Create, execute and revise work plans to meet Project Manager's needs;
  • The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes :

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Environmental Science and / or Engineering);
  • 2 to 4 years of direct experience in contaminated site assessments, site monitoring and remediation;
  • Working knowledge of the AB Contaminated Sites Framework and relevant Protocols and Technical Guidance documents;
  • Experience with statistical analysis using common analytical software;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace and possess a safety conscious attitude;
  • Ability to work patiently with and help train less experienced team members;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and key judgment skills;
  • Experience in the oil and gas sector will be an asset;
  • Preference will be given to those individuals with more extensive experience with respect to soil and groundwater monitoring programs, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site remediation, provincial Contaminated Site forms and protocols. And, have related field experience.
