Job description

Our client, based in Canada and a manufacturer of packaging automation and material handling machinery is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer (Remote USA or Canada) to drive new sales and support their customers in the packaging automation industry.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in material handling and packaging automation, with a strong technical background and the ability to translate complex automation solutions into value-driven sales. This position requires a proactive and consultative sales approach, engaging with clients to understand their unique automation challenges and recommending the best solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within the packaging automation and material handling sectors.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with engineers, procurement teams, and executives.
  • Deliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients.
  • Analyze customer needs and work closely with internal engineering teams to design tailored automation solutions.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotes, and contracts in collaboration with sales and engineering teams.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, guiding customers on automation efficiency, ROI, and system integration.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop effective sales materials and lead-generation strategies.
  • Travel to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Sales, Engineering, or Business Development within the packaging automation and material handling industries.
  • Strong technical knowledge of conveyors, robotics, vision systems, machine control systems, and end-of-line packaging solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to close deals and exceed sales targets in a B2B industrial automation environment.
  • Experience with automation integration, PLCs, and industrial robotics preferred.
  • Professional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and industry events.
