Job description

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The opportunity

We currently have career opportunities for Managers in our Canadian banking technology consulting team. Our team works to build a better world by transforming businesses through the potential of our people, technology, and innovation. Emerging technologies are transforming all lines of business and require our customers to embrace these new technological capabilities and see them as new competitive advantages.

We work collaboratively with some of the top executives in financial institutions of all sizes and scales, helping them create and realize the best solutions for the future of their business. Each project is different, so you’ll need to be able to excel in ambiguous situations and confidently navigate ever-changing circumstances. We’ll look to you to be a self‑starter, have the ability to translate complex information into simple terms, manage teams, and deliver long-term solutions with confidence. On this team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to imagine the future as well as create it, where you can craft ideas and implement them for our clients.

Your key responsibilities

As a manager, you will work with your clients and collaborate with your team using data, and technology professionals, and / or third‑party strategic alliances to deliver strategic technology‑enabled transformations, technology risk remediation and major digital implementations.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Agile, growth‑oriented mindsets. What you know matters. But the right mindset is just as important in determining success. We’re looking for people who are innovative, can work in an agile way and keep pace with a rapidly changing world. Experience in business development or delivering against financial targets in a service‑oriented context is a plus.
  • High‑performance tech leaders. A strong track record of management of large teams delivering strategic technology‑enabled transformations, technology risk remediation and or major digital implementations. Proven ability to build relationships and influence without direct authority.
  • Great communicators. We are looking for individuals who have strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills to describe ideas, concepts and issues that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual topics.
  • Curiosity and purpose. We’re looking for people thought leaders, with great problem‑solving, and analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights and actionable strategies. Those who see opportunities instead of challenges, who ask better questions to seek better answers that build a better working world, and who are committed to integrity in every environment.
  • Integrity and inclusivity. We’re looking for people who seek out and embrace diverse perspectives, who value differences, and team inclusively to build safety and trust.
  • Experience and appetite for learning. We’re looking for individuals with relevant experience or education in technology, engineering, solution architecture, financial services, or other related fields. Typically, successful candidates have over 5 years of experience delivering projects through strategy, design, build, test, and delivery.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • 6+ years of financial industry experience, in particular working with Banks or Credit Unions or in a consulting capacity focused in Banking.
  • Experience in design and implementation of program governance and program management strategies.
  • Experience in conducting in‑depth analysis of business requirements and translate them into detailed system specifications.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross‑functional teams to design and implement technology solutions in the financial services industry.
  • Past project experiences using Agile methodology practices & driving iterative development and continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of business development activities such as responding to request for proposals (RFP), structuring solutions, client orals / presentations, drafting statement of work and managing sales pipeline.
  • Strong project management and change management skills with an ability to deliver on complex situations or problems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to adjust your communication style based on audience needs.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Relevant certification or degree such as PMP, ITIL, CISSP or MBA.
  • Prior IT Risk remediation or disaster recovery experience would be an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the 3 lines of defense model with a specific focus on the 1st line of defense and how the business effectively manages risk.
  • Ability to manage and deliver client engagements, build client relationships, and support team development. This will include generating new business opportunities by developing ideas and solutions to present to internal and external clients.
  • Lead the development and execution of systems integration projects and roadmaps.
  • Manage stakeholder communication, ensuring clear and effective collaboration between business and technical teams.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts, fostering a culture of learning and development.
