In this role, you will take full ownership of manufacturing process development—from initial project sourcing through to SOP +90 days. You will lead cross-functional implementation, oversee vendor timelines and equipment budgets, and drive automation and lean concepts for high-volume automotive assembly operations.
Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Mississauga, ON

Position Type: 1 Year Contract (with strong opportunity to extend and/or convert to permanent)

Salary/Rate: $40.00 - $50.00 / hour (based on experience)

Advantages
Competitive Compensation: Earn an attractive hourly rate of $40.00 - $50.00/hr, commensurate with your industry experience.

Conversion Potential: Strong opportunity to transition into a permanent role based on performance and project needs.

Direct Ownership: High-visibility role managing capital budgets, automated launch processes, and key supplier relationships.

Career Growth: Opportunities to implement advanced robotic integration, lean initiatives, and next-generation assembly technologies in a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities
Project & Vendor Management
Oversee assigned capital equipment installation, commissioning, line startup, and vendor performance.

Develop and manage capital investment budgets, tracking timelines and communicating open issues to project stakeholders.

Draft RFQs, write technical specifications, and manage relationships with capital equipment, tooling, and machining vendors.

Conduct site preparations for project launches and lead monthly status presentations.

Process & Line Design
Design and execute production processes, ergonomic workstation layouts, line balancing, and initial plant floor layouts (PFEP).

Program torque control systems, select mistake/error-proofing devices, and integrate material handling/presentation equipment.

Drive lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kanban, Visual Factory, TPM) and introduce line enhancements, including automation.

Documentation & Launch Support
Develop prototype and production documentation (Process Flow, Cycle Time Analysis, PFMEA, Work Instructions) up to SOP +90 days.

Hand over fully documented processes (electronic/hard copy OEM manuals, BOMs, drawings, spare parts lists, PM schedules) to plant teams prior to SOP.

Determine cost and timing impacts for engineering changes affecting square footage, tooling, capital investment, and labor efficiency.

Provide continuous technical support, problem resolution, and crisis management as required across sites.

Qualifications
Experience: 7 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, focusing on automotive component assembly (Body, Trim, Chassis, Powertrain, or Interior).

Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of manual and automated assembly systems (mechanical & control), alongside advanced knowledge of JIT, SPD, ILVS, and batch manufacturing.

Safety & Standards: Extensive knowledge of Industrial Safety Standards and assembly feasibility analysis.

Software Skills: Highly proficient in AutoCAD (or AutoCAD LT), MS Project, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and 3D CAD viewers.

Advanced Tech: Experience supporting the cross-functional deployment of advanced robotic technologies.

Leadership: Self-motivated leader with strong financial/cost-tracking literacy, capable of driving deliverables independently with minimal direction.
