Millwright / Industrial Mechanic – Keep Operations Running Smoothly!

Are you a skilled problem-solver with a passion for precision mechanics? As a Mechanical Technician (Red Seal Millwright) in our Equipment Repair Services team, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely maintenance of vital mechanical assets that power pipeline operations.

What You'll Be Working On :

Diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing centrifugal compressors, gearboxes, and pumps (pneumatic / hydraulic) to keep systems performing at their best.

Maintaining dry gas seals, industrial engines (CAT, Waukesha, etc.), jet engines, and power turbines to ensure maximum reliability.

Overseeing the upkeep of fans, coolers, and lubrication skids for smooth, uninterrupted operation.

Working hands-on with critical equipment to prevent downtime and enhance overall efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safe execution of day-to-day activities in the Shop and the Field.
  • Ensuring all paperwork and risk evaluation is completed before starting any task (FLHA, JSA, Hot Work Permit)
  • Ensuring the proper PPE is in place before any work is started and all workers in the area are aware of the risks
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, shop drawings, specifications, and maintenance manuals is required.
  • Must be able to operate hand tools and power tools as needed.
  • Ability to use accurate measuring tools such as Vernier's, micrometers, bore gauges, dials, etc.,
  • Inspection, teardown and assembly of components required for overhaul or repair
  • Safe use & execution of rigging for the movement of equipment around the shop
  • Troubleshooting equipment during bench commissioning or function testing
  • Participation in Root Cause Failure Analysis of equipment when required
  • Uses industry best practices to solve problems and repair assets
  • Crating & Preservation activities are adhered to for long term asset storage
  • Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. This includes working closely with peers, engineers, managers, project stakeholders, etc. to achieve results in a timely fashion
  • Must have the ability to work with others in a team environment including mentoring and sharing knowledge with apprentices and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision to complete tasks assigned in a quality and timely manner.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft office suite including word, outlook, excel and mobile communication devices.
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven good driving record (abstract required).
  • Must have effective time management skills to ensure training, expenses and timesheets are kept up to date.
  • Ensures that equipment, workspaces, and tools supplied by company are used for their intended purposes and are maintained in a safe working order.
  • Equipment, workspaces and tools are put away clean and housekeeping practices are always adhered to
  • This is an overtime eligible position and workers should be ready and willing to work overtime as needed. This can include longer days, weekends and holidays.
  • Workers are eligible to support Field outages, when required, and should be prepared to travel for up to 10 days at a time. This will account for 15% or less of the worker’s time.

Qualifications

Preferred Candidate Experience

  • Oil and Gas Industry experience 5 years + in Journeymen Position
  • Dual Trade Red Seal in Heavy Duty Mechanic or Machinist
  • Experience with large centrifugal compressors (Siemens, Nuovo Pignone, Solar, etc.,)
  • Experience with CAT & Waukesha recip. engine overhaul
  • Overhead crane and forklift experience an asset.
  • Experience balancing shafts and rotating components an asset but not required
