Job description

MAV Beauty Canada, home to renowned brands like Marc Anthony True Professional, Cake Beauty, The Mane Choice, Renpure, and Sky Organics, is seeking an innovative and strategic Brand Director to lead one of our dynamic portfolio brands. If you’re a self-starter with a passion for clean, conscious beauty and a deep understanding of diverse haircare and personal care needs, we want to hear from you. Reporting into the VP of Marketing, this role is critical to define and execute brand strategy to shape innovation, promotion, and communication plans aligned with consumer needs. A unique opportunity with the robust scope of overseeing the brand from end-to-end : from Product Innovation to Go-to-Market Execution, working closely with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in brand management, particularly in the clean and natural beauty segments with a passion for innovation and our categories. They will be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, and a knack for navigating change. We value exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills as our ability to succeed hinges on strong cross functional collaboration.

Brand Director Responsibilities include :

Brand Building :

Establish / strengthen the vision for the brand based on our consumer, defining its purpose and values clearly, and developing a strategy that strengthens the brand equity.

  • Lead the development of brand management processes and capabilities, including competitive analysis, architecture mapping, planning, measurement / ROI, standards and governance.
  • Brand ownership of the vision, mission, goals and strategies.
  • Champion the brand internally and externally making sure all elements of the company and external stakeholders understand the brand and its goals
  • Lead productive, cross functional relationships across Sales, Operations, Marketing Comms, Creative, Business Analytics, Regulatory & Quality, Product Development, and Finance.

Portfolio & Innovation Strategy :

Leverage consumer, category, and competitive insights to identify white space opportunity for portfolio development.

  • Analyze and understand the market, sales data, and industry trends to be able to collaborate with Product Development to develop the pipeline of innovation.
  • Lead the new product concepting process informed with consumer insights with strong USPs
  • Collaborate with Sales and Demand Planning to manage the add / delete that aligns to the pipeline development.
  • Collaborate with Product Development on the evaluation and testing of formula submissions.
  • Manage the artwork and packaging development with Creative and coordinate approvals with key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for financial viability of launches – establishing target COGs with Operations and a pricing strategy
  • Managing and tracking R&D budgets to ensure programs meet objectives.
  • Communication Strategy :

    Develop and translate the brand voice throughout all marketing activations to ensure the brand is accurately represented in its compelling story telling.

  • Establish marketing communication priorities for the brand inclusive of key messaging and campaign timing.
  • Develop high quality and effective marketing assets such as e-comm assets, in-store displays, brand videos, digital media assets, social assets with the Creative team that align with the overall brand strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Communications team to execute communication priorities in 360 communication campaigns across media channels, PR, influencer, consumer events, retailer media, and display.
  • Managing and tracking Marketing Comms budgets to ensure programs meet objectives.
  • Go To Market Strategy :

    The brand lead plays a pivotal role in driving the commercial success and market penetration of the brand. Strong partnership with the Sales teams is necessary for the brands’ success.

  • Leading the planning and execution of product launches, ensuring timely delivery and flawless implementation of launch strategies at all retailers and online.
  • Collaboration with e-commerce teams to drive profitable growth.
  • Understanding retailer strategies to develop recommendations on pricing, promotions, and account specific initiatives and working with sales to execute.
  • Creating and pitching off-shelf display opportunities to give brands and launches maximum visibility at retail.
  • Establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships with distributors, retailers, and key stakeholders to expand the brand's reach and market presence.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for key retailer meetings.
  • Business Management / Analytic :

    Drive insightful brand performance and market opportunity conversations.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of brand performance, competitors, category, consumers, to garner insights, to feed into the development of new products, go-to-market plans, and develop strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze sales and market data to give key updates on the business and category (Nielsen, POS, Consumer, Customer) on a regular basis and keeping the team apprised of any key issues / opportunities or competitive actions.
  • In collaboration with the Marketing Communications team, evaluate the performance of executed strategic programs and campaigns to ascertain their effectiveness in meeting brand objectives.
  • Track performance, identify issues, trends and opportunities, and continuously improving plans and their execution.
  • Key Qualifications :

  • 8+ years’ experience in Brand Management (consumer products) MBA preferred.
  • Track record of managing new products from concept development to shelf, managing multiple aspects of product commercialization process
  • Very Strong project management collaboration & problem solving skills
  • Understanding of retail and shopper dynamics in the US and Canada
  • Experience with leading retailer meetings
  • Experience with P / L, Budget management
  • Comfort level with working with a manager who is remote
  • Previous experience in the beauty industry or adjacent industry preferred or strong passion for beauty
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
