This is an outstanding opportunity for a Hydrologist, Technical Consulting Director looking for a leadership role in our Water practice. You will design and lead the execution of water studies for major mining projects throughout Canada. We work throughout all parts of the mining life-cycle : your work will help our clients deliver their initial and expansion-phase environmental assessments, resolve challenges in permitting applications, help refine operational decisions and guide major decisions during the closure planning. You can work from our offices in downtown Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto, choose to work remotely, or combine in-person and remote work into a hybrid model that best meets your needs. This is a senior leadership role where you will help shape our strategy and share in the accountability for how we grow our business in Canada.

As a Technical Director with leadership experience, you will be equipped to provide oversight and technical strength and guidance to our Integrated Water Resources team, tapping into expertise from hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and toxicology, and focusing on integrating these teams to deliver insights and value for our clients through technical analyses and the development of robust mass balance and geochemical models. This is an opportunity to utilize your established technical expertise leading water-related environmental assessments and permitting for large-scale capital projects with a focus on the Mining Sector. You will embrace the challenge of being a main point of contact for our clients for water management related scopes. You will serve as a representative of our company and play a key role building our business and winning new projects. Your big-picture understanding of our business, and ability to build strong client relationships based on trust and mutual benefit will be critical.
Your responsibilities :
- Provide technical expertise to expand our water management services and client base in Canada and serve as a key member of the “core” technical team to drive growth in the areas of environmental impact assessment, permitting, risk assessment, water resources management and site closure.
- Lead the preparation of technical documents in your field of expertise. Depending on the complexity of the work, this can range from hands-on interpretation to delegating work to junior staff and then serving as the senior technical reviewer.
- Contribute to business development in our global impact assessment and planning service area. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients.
- Capitalize on existing ERM client relationships to expand ERM’s profile and market share through excellence in technical delivery and business development. You will embrace the challenge of being a main point of contact for our clients and help deep relationships across multiple technical disciplines and service lines.
- Collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with other ERM subject matter experts to integrate our different types of work and communicate our collective findings to a wide range of audiences.

For the Technical Consulting Director, Hydrologist (Director Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $134,383 – $162,345 (CAD). An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.This jobmay be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term / flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
