Job description

Maintenance Electrician

LOCATION: Nisku - Alberta - Canada

DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE

Role

The role of Maintenance Electrician within the Operation Department in Nisku, AB maintenance department at Tenaris Hydril is a technical position that performs electrical and mechanical repairs on various production equipment in the facility as well as tests and installs electrical motors, generators, alternators, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.This position will be required to work varied hours including on-call and weekends, depending on business needs.

Please note: Tenaris requires employees to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and fit test for this position as it is a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on CNC lathe machines, conveyors, swaging machines bandsaws, phosphate tanks, pneumatic and hydraulic tools
  • Assist in diagnosing of failures, execution of repairs on various production machinery including hydraulic cylinders and actuators, pneumatics and rotating equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret part and electrical drawings, charts, and tables.
  • Install, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, CAT5 cables and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
  • Operate forklift, overhead crane as required
  • Perform routine equipment lubricating, cleaning, preventative maintenance inspections and repairs
  • Maintain effective communication with operations and provide technical advice regarding equipment operation
  • Provide input to the maintenance leader and warehouse personnel regarding equipment inventories, associated replacement parts and spare parts inventory requirements
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Carry out duties in an effective manner meeting productivity and efficiency standards.
  • Ensure proper use of the company assets, detecting, reporting and troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment.
  • Attend and participate in training activities to maintain and increase company knowledge.
  • Proactively suggest improvements and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Actively participate in company safety procedures and programs: correct unsafe work practices or situations; follow reporting protocols for violations; participate in the Hazard Identification process.
  • Perform other duties as required, including, but not limited to warehouse maintenance, housekeeping and administrative duties.
  • Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances and attend and participate in department safety meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience in an industrial setting
  • Journeyperson Electrician Certificate
  • Journeyperson Mechanic Certificate is an asset
