Apprentice carpenter Jobs in Cornwall, ON

We are currently looking for a Licensed Carpenter to join our client's dynamic team. Our client is a local unionized firm that has been providing services as a General Contractor for Commercials, Industrial and Institutional clients in the area for over 20 years! Their dedication to completing projects on time and on budget is due to a high efficiency team of skilled labour and tradesmen.What We Offer

• Overtime will be available if desired, very rare occasions of weekend/night work.

What You’ll Do

• Preparing cost estimates for clients.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and sketches and responding to change orders.
• Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring, and installing walls and roofing systems.
• Fitting and installing trims, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware.
• Measuring, cutting, and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes as well as repairs.
• Managing or collaborating with subcontractors.
• Training apprentices and/or coworkers and perform basic inspection on equipment and safety PPE.
• Recommending job improvements, alternative methods, etc. (problem solve).

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ Years Experience - Certification is also an asset but not required.
• Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations and Occupational Health and Safety.
• Be organized as well as a team player, mentor, motivator, and communicator - Foreman experience an asset.
• Must have own vehicle and ability to transport oneself to and from a job site.
• Recognize unsafe work practices and situations. Acts to remedy safety concerns effectively and correctly by complying with all health and safety rules, regulations, and legislation.
