Reporting to the Manager of Public Works, the Foreperson manages the day-to-day coordination of the Public Works employees and is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of services provided by the Public Works Department. Provides advice and technical guidance to the Manager of Public Works regarding infrastructure. Assists with the development of the annual work plan, department budget and ensures compliance with policies and plans approved by Council as well as provincial and federal legislation. The Foreperson is an effective team member whose contributions assist in the achievement of department and organization objectives.QualificationsSuccessful completion of a high school diploma;Diploma in Engineering Technology is preferred;Experience in municipal infrastructure operation, maintenance, construction and snow clearing and the safe operation of related tools and equipment;Demonstrated ability to deal with the public with tact and diplomacy;Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;Previous supervisory experience in a municipal and/or unionized environment is required;High level of organizational and problem solving skills is required;A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required;An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. This is a full-time, permanent supervisory position working 35 hours a week. There will be times you will be required to work a varied shift schedule.
