Duties

The Analyst, Planning and Events Management Unit (PEMU) supports PPS in researching, analyzing, coordinating, and preparing products that enable the effective planning and delivery of events across the Parliamentary Precinct. The analysis provided supports decision‑making and operational readiness, helping ensure events are secure, well‑organized, and effectively managed.

  • Conducting open / closed‑source research and synthesizing information to support event planning and risk mitigation;
  • Preparing concise briefing materials (reports, presentations, dashboards) for management and senior management;
  • Coordinating with internal / external partners to support integrated planning, stakeholder engagement, and operational alignment;
  • Monitoring trends (e.g., crowd dynamics, relevant social media indicators) and contributing to mitigation strategies;
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of PEMU processes, tools, and performance measures.

Work environment

The Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is a separate and distinct organization and is not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. PPS has its own classification, compensation system, and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and receive the Public Service Pension Plan and Public Service Insurance Benefits Plan.

    Conditions of employment

    Top Secret security clearance - You must be eligible to obtain both a Site Access Clearance and Top Secret clearance. The process involves a background investigation that includes :

  • a loyalty assessment;
  • law enforcement verifications;
  • credit and financial verifications;
  • a security interview wherein questions may include (but are not limited to) previous employment, online activities, financial situation, alcohol and / or drug use;
  • personal references as well as previous employers will also be contacted as part of the security screening process.

  • Willing and able to work overtime during evenings and weekends when required due to various events.
  • Willing and able to work statutory holidays (including Canada Day) when there are events within the precinct.
