Job description

Your Opportunity:

If you are an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse who likes small town living, this position in Drayton Valley might be for you! In this position you are Charge Nurse responsible for 50 Continuing Care residents that focuses on the delivery of excellent patient and family centered care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementias. Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education, charge nurse, and leadership training would definitely be an asset. Drayton Valley is located in the Central Zone, just 133 km southwest of Edmonton and 172 km northwest of Red Deer. The town has a population of over 7,000. In and around the area are a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, 6 golf courses, and an indoor swimming pool. The Omniplex encompasses three multi-purpose recreation facilities, all under one roof. Conveniently located in the heart of Lions West Valley Park, the Omniplex is surrounded by five baseball diamonds, a soccer field, the rodeo grounds, a secluded day-use park and a 40-site full-service RV Park. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $ to $ per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Actively integrates Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem solving skills. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing professional and practice competencies through professional development activities. Ability to work shift work and meet the physical demands of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

Initiation and maintenance care experience. Experience working in RAI Connect Care Training.
