About the role

We’re looking for a Claims Adjuster II, Casualty , to join our growing team!

As a Non-Auto Claims Adjuster, Casualty handling claims for our Casualty team, you will be responsible for investigating and settling insurance claims to ensure a prompt and fair settlement. You will provide quality service and ensure prompt and equitable settlement of claims in line with corporate policies and standards. Your natural ability to negotiate, influence, prioritize, be proactive and think creatively on your feet will help you thrive in our collaborative and energetic culture.

These opportunities can be based in any of the following Ontario Intact offices : Toronto ( University Ave) / Mississauga / Ajax / Richmond Hill, London or Ottawa.

What you'll do here :

  • Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements which are fair and equitable.
  • Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with the customer, claimants, lawyers and insurers to settle claims and report findings and settlements.
  • Conduct investigations and identify additional information such as independent medical examinations, customers medical or employment history required to clarify and / or justify a claim.
  • Collect reports and statements to determine liability and coverage.
  • Ensure all cases are clearly documented and meet any or all legislative requirements.
  • Assist junior staff with day-to-day issues, escalating more serious issues to senior adjusters, specialists, consultants or management staff.

What you bring to the table :

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • 2+ years of experience in handling Casualty claims
  • Can handle or oversee moderate to complex claims.
  • Can communicate and negotiate effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Bilingualism (English / French) is considered an asset
