Job description

We are seeking an experienced Controller for our growing team in the Edmonton area. The Controller will support the CFO in all aspects of finance. This position will be based out of our Java Nisku office location.

Requirements

• Provides leadership and coaching to the accounting department, comprised of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and administration.
• Support and ensure all customer invoices are capturing appropriate charges and are prepared and sent in a timely and accurate manner. Work closely with project management on overdue accounts to resolve outstanding payment issues.
• Support and oversee the accounts payable function and ensures that subcontractors and vendors meet all requirements of their contract agreement prior to payment. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all paid transactions.
• Support and oversee the preparation of weekly payroll, including submission of company benefits, source deductions and  Group RRSP’s.
• Ensure compliance with all tax reporting, remittance and payments.
• Ensures integrity of general ledger balances through process control, and appropriate checks and balances to ensure completeness of transaction records.

• Oversee accounting entries are completed with accuracy and completeness.
• Preparation of monthly financial statements, including Job Report.
• Working with the Project Managers, determine the appropriate amount of revenues to record for all projects, on a percentage of completion basis.
• Monitoring cash flow to ensure cash levels are maintained to sustain business operations.
• Ensure work processes and transactional functions are appropriately allocated to ensure effective internal controls that safeguard the custody of assets and records.
• Responsible for the consistent application of accounting policies and processes while ensuring these policies conform to the accepted accounting principles.
• Provision of required information to the external accounting firm in order that year end financial statements and tax returns are prepared.
• Oversee preparation of Monday Morning reports.
• Asset Management and depreciation calculations on a monthly basis.
• Maintain and communicate standards of performance and deliverables for staff; taking corrective action where required.
