We are seeking an Accountant in our Toronto office who will join the Americas Region Financial Accounting team managing the regions statutory reporting process and audits.
The person will be part of the Global Financial Accounting Team work closely with local finance business partners the Shared Services Center teams in Newcastle United Kingdom and project management teams in Canada and the US to identify and implement process improvements and documentation and assist in complying with the regions statutory regulations. This role will not only provide beneficial support to the financial reporting but will also play a significant role in business operations and internal control improvements.
The opportunity
- Handle day-to-day activities related to audit deliverables preparation of the financial statements and process improvements.
- Statutory reporting preparation of the annual financial statements including the financial statement note disclosures in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or local GAAP where applicable.
- Build and maintain accurate audit documentation of financial reporting processes and controls including workflows source of information frequency and purpose of the processes.
- Ensuring allocated audit requests are completed on time.
- Ensuring all relevant end to end processes are documented.
- Provide ad hoc support as needed on company projects and initiatives.
- Assisting in oversight of statutory WIP process from business to auditors.
- Assisting in the implementation and oversight of controls within the areas of responsibility.
- To challenge current ways of working and encourage innovative ways of working across your areas of responsibility.
- Work closely with other departments that impact or contribute to the timely and accurate production of financial statements to review and analyze supporting schedules and seek ways to improve current reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Be a reliable support to the main contact person for the audit and reply to audit requests.
- Challenge current ways of working and encourage innovative ways of working across your areas of responsibility.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job performed in Toronto is $85000 to $105000 per year. Benefits are not included in the base salary range. Summary of benefits are included in this posting with details provided to applicants at the time of interview. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
