Communitech is based in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. We work in-office five days a week because great things happen when we're together — creating space for deeper collaboration and stronger relationships with each other and the ecosystem we support.
Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Financial Analyst helps support the entire Finance team, supporting accounting, government reporting, FP&A, systems, and more.
What You’ll Be Doing
Accounting Support
Complete monthly bank reconciliations for Communitech and its related companies.
Assist with posting journal entries and other month-end close procedures as needed.
Act as a supporting resource for audit requests; support the interim and fiscal year-end audits.
Monthly and quarterly preparation and filing of HST returns.
Bank verifications and email support.
Government Reporting Support
Maintain organized and audit-proof digital files for all grant-related expenses and activities.
Ensure all financial contractual obligations of Communitech are executed on a timely basis.
Review project costs to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria as per government funding contracts.
Support in the reconciliation of claims on a quarterly and semi-annual basis with multiple funding bodies.
FP&A Support
Assist with data gathering for the annual budget and ongoing forecasting, including pulling reports and updating templates.
Help prepare monthly "Budget vs. Actual" variance reports by running standard reports from NetSuite for review and analysis.
Run ad-hoc financial reports as requested.
Finance Systems Support
Act as a key support contact for NetSuite and Nexonia; assist with user questions, basic troubleshooting, and data clean-up.
Help test new system workflows, configurations, or reports before they are rolled out to the organization.
Other duties as assigned. All duties subject to change.
What We’re Seeking
You are highly detail-oriented and possess a strong commitment to accuracy.
You have strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
You are a proactive problem-solver with excellent organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
Proficiency in using systems like NetSuite and Nexonia is considered an asset.
Proficiency with spreadsheet software (Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel) for data manipulation, reporting, and analysis is considered an asset.
A post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
At least 1 year of relevant experience in an accounting or finance department is preferred.
This position is required to be on-site at our Kitchener office.
Compensation
The annual base salary range is $53,000-$60,000. The actual compensation will be based on various factors, including the candidate’s level of skills, experience and education as well as the needs of the role, budget and market.
