TRADE JOURNEYMAN MECHANIC

South Island – Ark Roads

In accordance with Article 12 of the Collective Agreement, we are now seeking applications from qualified and interested candidates to fill the regular position of Trade Journeyman Mechanic South Island – Ark Roads.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Mechanic Superintendent or the Trade Leadhand in the absence of the Superintendent, to perform assigned functions related to their respective trade along with diagnostic and repair work on a variety of trucks and equipment.

Required qualifications include but are not limited to :

• Trade Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Duty Mechanics’ (or Commercial Transport).
• Valid BC Driver’s license and positive driving record with the ability to obtain a Valid Class 3 BC Driver’s license with air endorsement when required.
• Physically fit and capable of performing job requirements.
• Welding experience would be an asset.
• Preferably Grade 12 Education.
• Good knowledge of safety regulations, policies and procedures.
• Positive safety record.
• Ability to follow instructions competently and to function well without direct supervision.
• Must be self-motivated, physically fit and mentally alert.
• Ability to read and interpret related technical information and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the work involved.
• Ability to work with other employees and assist apprentices in learning and developing.

Shift : As currently in effect at the Ark Road Shop.
