Compensation Range
$27.41 up to $35.46 hourly
Position Summary
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and preparing CNC Lathe machines for production runs. This role involves configuring the machine, selecting and installing tools, and ensuring the machine operates efficiently to produce parts that meet precise specifications. A deep understanding of technical drawings and CNC programming is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Set up Lathe machines by selecting and installing appropriate tools, fixtures, and attachments.
- Load raw materials into the machine, ensuring proper alignment and secure positioning.
- Input and modify CNC programs to match specific job requirements.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure precision and accuracy, making real-time adjustments as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on finished products using precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or operational issues that arise during machine set-up or production.
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians for more complex repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all produced parts meet strict quality standards and specifications.
- Document and report any defects or deviations from specifications, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production output, and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in setting up and operating Lathe CNC machines.
- Availability to work Afternoon shift ( 3:00pm-1:30am Monday - Thursday)
Required Skills & Expertise
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CNC programs.
- Understands complex datum structures, including those for large weldments.
- Advanced work-holding for large components.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and operational issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and tools (up to 50 lbs).
- Measuring tools and instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, callipers, height gauges or other specialized measuring instruments.
- CNC Lathe machines.
