Position : Training Lead

Type : Full-time

Location : Head Office - Fort McKay Incubator Park

Schedule : 4 on / 3 off – 10-hour days (Monday-Thursday)

  • Role Summary

    The Training Lead is responsible for overseeing the delivery of operations training at assigned sites to ensure adherence to Bouchier standards. This includes managing and supporting coaches in delivering computer-based training (CBT), classroom sessions, and operator evaluations. The Training Lead ensures that all personnel complete required theoretical training, conducts timely assessments in line with training guidelines, and evaluates operator performance to maintain high standards and reduce maintenance costs. Additionally, the role involves providing recommendations and support based on field observations to drive continuous improvement in training and operational effectiveness.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Safety :

  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, and that of others who may be affected by your actions. Follow all safety policies and actively participate in and promote Bouchier's and the site’s safety processes and initiatives.
  • Ensure that everyone follows safety procedures and protocols while operating equipment and completing tasks.
  • Coordination & Scheduling :

  • Guide assigned coaches through a collaborative decision-making process on your site.
  • Work with site supervision to align training activities with site schedules.
  • Deliver training programs to all relevant personnel on the site, spending approximately 80% of your time in the field and 20% in the office.
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings on the assigned site.
  • Support :

  • Train and assist coaches in delivering Bouchier training programs to ensure adherence to Bouchier standards.
  • Address and resolve issues related to equipment misuse by following up with operators as soon as possible.
  • Organize, deliver, and document all site-specific training activities.
  • Ensure that training meets the requirements set by site supervision.
  • Use the Learning Management System (LMS) for delivering theoretical training, maintaining records, and generating training reports.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of corporate training materials and methods.
  • Other tasks as required.
  • Key Relationships :

    Internal : The Training Lead plays a role in mentoring coaches and supervision on training protocol, and coaching operators and labourers on safe and efficient use of equipment and tasks. The Training Lead should treat Bouchier employees as their clients.

    External : The Training Lead’s key external contacts include vendors and clients to coordinate training initiatives, and exchange information. This person may be viewed as the face of Bouchier and may have a direct impact on stakeholders’ perceptions of Bouchier. Positive working relationships with external stakeholders are a must in this role.

    Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • Class 1 license required.
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) is required.
  • Heavy Equipment Training Certification is required
  • Education / Courses in Instructing Adults in Workplace an asset
  • 10 years’ experience operating heavy equipment such as Highway Trucks with Low & High Boys, Water Trucks, Articulated Trucks, Dozers, Graders, Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Packers, etc.
  • 3 years’ experience as a trainer, coach or mentor in the construction, oil & gas, or mining industry.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems, specifically Cornerstone an asset.
  • Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team-oriented environment.
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft software, including Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to comfortably and pleasantly deal with a variety of people.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional organization and planning capabilities.
