Community Support Worker (CSW)

Seeking a part-time support worker to provide companionship to a man with autism ("C") and accompany him on outings to some of his favourite spots and activities (Stanley Park, Spanish Banks, swimming at the local pool). This position involves working closely with C's shared living provider. C's support worker will pick up C's car from the Spectrum office, then meet C at his home, go out with him and then either drop him off at home or meet the shared living provider at another location at the end of the day and then drop the car off at the Spectrum office.

This assignment is Temporary to cover a Maternity Leave for 12 months; possibly up to 18 months.

Driver's license (Class 5)

Preferred Training or Experience

Training will be provided; no specific experience is required although familiarity with autism would be an asset. Making a positive connection with C and having a genuine desire to get to know him is paramount. Everything else is secondary to this.
