The Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) is the world-leading science and advocacy organization focused on the study and conservation of wild Atlantic salmon. Represented at prominent forums, ASF is a family of more than 25,000 members and volunteers passionate about conserving and restoring wild Atlantic salmon. ASF conducts research on wild salmon throughout the North Atlantic, performs complex river restoration projects, and advocates for legislation that will help to protect wild Atlantic salmon.

With a newly established and ambitious strategic plan, coupled with the implementation of a comprehensive conservation and fundraising campaign,

ASF is primed to achieve its goal of being the global leader in wild Atlantic Salmon conservation and applied research. We are pleased to be partnered with them to bring an Impact Officer to their talented team. This role will be based in Halifax, NS and offers a hybrid working structure.

The Impact Officer will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members across various departments and will be a key support to ASF’s President.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Task management for a variety of duties including comprehensive correspondence, speech writing and researching.
  • Leading the process of creating and submitting proposals for grant funding.
  • Ensuring efficient operation of the office.
  • Handling sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Responding to emails, phone calls, and other communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Developing and updating administrative systems to make them more efficient.
  • Supporting team projects and initiatives as needed.

The ideal candidate will have :

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of Canadian environmental laws, public policy and Indigenous treaty agreements.
  • Exceptional communication skills and keen attention to detail and ability to correspond with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • A positive, energetic, and can-do attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
