Contract | Hybrid | Banking – Payments Modernization
Set the technical direction for payments modernization using the Java ecosystem. Define target architectures, integration patterns, and non-functional standards.
What you’ll do
Architect
cloud-native Java
solutions : microservices, API gateways, service mesh, event streaming.
Establish
non-functional
requirements (scalability, resiliency, security, latency, operability) and guardrails.
Lead domain-driven design (DDD), canonical data models, and
Kafka
event contracts.
Govern
ISO 20022
integration (and / or
ISO 8583 ) with messaging, transformations, and validation.
Partner with PMs and BAs on solution options; conduct ADRs and architecture reviews.
Must-have skills :
Security : OAuth2 / OIDC, mTLS, secrets / keys, audit / logging, compliance considerations.
Experience migrating from monolith / legacy platforms to modern distributed architectures.
Nice to have (Payments domain)
Architectural leadership across : SWIFT / Lynx / FedWire, ACH / AFT / EDI / Bills, RTP / Zelle, Interac, remittances (Visa / Western Union / Citi), tokenization & wallets, shared / data services, sanctions screening.
Deep knowledge of
ISO 20022
flows and data models; performance considerations for high-throughput rails.
