Job Description
The Maintenance Technician (Journeyman Millwright) will safely maintain and repair production equipment to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production goals. The role involves troubleshooting maintenance scenarios—from reactive breakdowns to preventive and predictive cycles—while applying a solid understanding of LOTO processes, 6S, LEAN culture, FLHA's, and JHA's. The candidate will maintain a professional demeanor with minimal supervision and communicate effectively among all teams.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment and facilities. Equipment includes :
- Electrical equipment : facility wiring, generators, sub‑panels, junction boxes
- Mechanical equipment : cranes, doors, plumbing, HVAC systems, compressors
- Production equipment : injection machines, sandblasters, ovens, autoclaves, saws, welding equipment, product testing apparatus (electrical and hydraulic)
- Perform adjustment and repair of items as required.
- Perform preventive maintenance to detect early signs of failure or maladjustment.
- Communicate and listen to operators, vendors, and other maintenance personnel to ensure production readiness of all machines.
- Work from machine design drawings, specifications, and handbooks.
- Perform other work‑related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
Facility Specific Responsibilities
Prioritize safety for all personnel and equipment, with a timely response to production equipment needs.Support every aspect of functionality within the Nisku facility.Perform preventative maintenance and assist, guide, and train others as needed.Communicate and listen to operators, vendors, and maintenance personnel to insure maximum utilization of machines and equipment.Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments, involving dismantling, inspection, machining, and / or replacement of purchased parts.Use blueprints and specifications; use hand tools, power tools, and precision‑measuring instruments.Inspect and troubleshoot machines and equipment to locate areas of concern.Must be a motivated, self‑less handyman with experience in hydraulics, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, framing, welding, and / or lighting.Know how to operate and assemble machines and equipment.May also perform complex duties including planning and implementation for programmed facilities plans and general maintenance.Works under appointed supervision.Qualifications / Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.Preferred : 3+ years of experience in a Millwright / Maintenance Technician role.Instrumentation experience an asset.Basic electrical 120V to 480V and basic math knowledge.Boiler and steam experience an asset.Experience in the repair of manual CNC machines, mills, lathes, and drills, preferred.Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.Additional Information
Some overtime on an as‑needed basis with manager approval.Job Specific Competencies
