Located in the Oakridge area of Vancouver, B.C., Louis Brier Home and Hospital is a 215-bed accredited Long Term care facility situated next to the Weinberg Residence, which is home to 40 Assisted Living and 20 Multilevel Care residents.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
Situated within the Louis Brier (LBHH) & Weinberg (WR) Residence, the CNL reports directly to the Director, Resident Care and is responsible for monitoring the quality of nursing care throughout the organization, as well as, mentoring and supporting the care collaboration with the Director, the incumbent identifies, practice / clinical concerns and develops and delivers appropriate training and education activities, monitors, audits, and revises policies and procedures to meet current standards of practice (as applicable), best practice and evidence based CNL is responsible to ensures that resident needs (including clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual) are met through the adherence to established skill mix and staffing levels, focusing on the delivery of safe quality care. The CNL is expected to exercise clinical and professional judgement, should staffing and skill mix level require changes to reflect the changing needs of the resident CNL models and promotes excellence through extensive knowledge and experience in Geriatric nursing and additional in depth knowledge in particular areas such as Palliative Care, Wound Management, Falls Prevention, Documentation, and Quality Improvement. If necessary and relevant the CNL may assume a hands on delivery of nursing care to residents, as part of her / his role of training, education, and mentoring (if and when required) or by providing seasoned advice and / or recommendations to the registered and non-registered staff, when faced with difficult or unusual a member of the multi-disciplinary care team, the CNL acts as an educator, resource, and mentor to guide the care team (when appropriate) from being task oriented to assume a more empowered analytical thinking and care giving approach and practice. These provisions have a direct and significant impact on the quality of services delivered to residents and their families, and on the cost of the services provided. Based on resident needs and acuity, the CNL may be required to provide hands on direct resident care in accordance to BCCNP standards of practice for Registered collaboratively with the Management Team to develop a culture that supports the Facilities Code of Conduct and the behaviors flowing from it. Investigates and recommends a course of action on all Code of Conduct
