Material Handler

Overview

The position is a permanent, full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Operations department Supervisors / Managers.

Job summary

Must be able to operate scrap yard material handler (grapple / magnet) and front-end loader for unloading, loading trailers and railcars.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads heavy material.
• Strong understanding of material grades.
• Adheres to pile management procedures.
• Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Perform and maintain general housekeeping.
• Completes inspection report prior to using equipment.
• Responsible for customer and employee safety in and around work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
