The VDC Designer develops engineering consultant designs into coordinated, fabricable, and installable virtual models using Revit and BIM technologies. This role optimizes system routing, ensures code compliance, improves constructability, and supports project execution across multiple mechanical disciplines.

Key Impact / Purpose
- Transform engineering consultant designs into coordinated virtual models that accurately represent final site installation.
- Optimize routing for efficiency, cost reduction, constructability, and adherence to applicable codes and standards.
- Support project teams through proactive coordination, clash resolution, and alignment with project strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Model 3D building systems to enhance consultant concepts, including QA / QC for at least one discipline.Ensure design outputs meet code requirements, reduce material and labour costs, and support efficient installation.Issue complete drawing packages (PDF / paper) to site teams, including QA / QC verification.Maintain updated drawings and documentation in project databases.Improve project profitability and competitiveness through effective use of VDC technologies and timely deliverables.Oversee fittings libraries and report discrepancies to the VDC Manager.Prepare final drawings and sketches, verifying dimensions, materials, and system relationships.Perform calculations for angles, tolerances, clearances, weights, layouts, and opening locations.Work cross‑functionally to align design development with project schedules.Develop workflows bridging CAD to CAM to streamline fabrication and installation processes.Collaborate closely with the VDC Project Lead and Project Superintendent to ensure coordinated, strategy‑aligned outputs.Must haves :
3+ years of Revit experience on mechanical projects (preferred).Post‑secondary diploma in Mechanical or Construction Technology or a related field.Experience in mechanical contracting trades (HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal).Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and documentation.Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, or related technical environments.Strong problem‑solving abilities using design tools and virtual construction technologies.Nice to haves :
Experience modelling multiple mechanical systems.Experience in Sheet Metal.Exposure to spooling, Trimble, embeds, and coordination workflows.Knowledge of routing optimization and mechanical codes.Familiarity with CAM workflows or fabrication‑integrated modelling.This is a replacement position. Expected annual compensation; $70,000 - $90,000.
