Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy and Manager of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Assistant supports the drug distribution services of Pharmacy Departments in the region through the performance of technical and clerical functions.
The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
Experience
- Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Previous knowledgeable and experience with sterile product preparation is required.
- Basic computer experience is required including typing skills (minimum 40wpm).
Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)
Complete Grade 12 education, Manitoba standards required.Complete diploma in Pharmacy assistant (Preference).Certification / Licensure / Registration

Qualifications and Skills
Maintains current knowledge of the Hospital Disaster and Contingency Plans and the requirements of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Workplace Health and Safety.Demonstrated ability to perform basic math and accounting skills.Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset.Must possess effective written and oral communications skills.Demonstrated ability of good interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others.Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and to maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.Good work and attendance record.Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.Physical Requirements
