Altis Recruitment is grateful to partner with an organization within the Broader Public Sector for a Bilingual Legal Compliance Officer (French and English) in Toronto. This is a contract position for 4-6 months with a strong possibility of extension based on business needs and performance within the role. This is a hybrid model (3-days on-site) that will involve providing expertise on regulations while handling inquiries and complaints from investors and market participants via phone, email, and written correspondence
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clear guidance related to regulations and compliance requirements.
- Address inquiries and complaints promptly, ensuring adherence to service standards.
- Evaluate and escalate potential regulatory issues for further review.
- Draft responses on topics including registration, regulatory filings, issuer obligations, complaint procedures, unregistered trading, and the roles of self-regulatory organizations.
- Utilize internal databases and national systems to gather pertinent information.
- Collaborate with the team to monitor communication channels and ensure timely responses.
- Contribute to updating internal resources to reflect regulatory changes.
- Identify emerging trends and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:- 3+ years of relevant experience in corporate, contact center, financial services, legal, or regulatory environments.
- Post-secondary education in Law, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Bilingualism in French and English.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal and policy matters clearly.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Experience in regulatory agencies or knowledge of legal administrative procedures is a plus.
- Completion of securities or industry-related courses is beneficial.
