This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

The incumbent will report to the Data Governance Office and will be primarily responsible for the development and application of data governance policies and guidelines. They will be the reference in data risk management for the strategic project portfolio of the bank.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain Data Governance policies and guidelines, recommend them for approval and ensure compliance with them.
  • Advise, support and acts as a leader in data governance and recommend strategic directions.
  • Lead dashboards and presentations to provide visibility on data governance plan progress.
  • Act as a coach for Data Stewards and the Data Governance Office.
  • Prepare the monthly data governance board presentation and lead the data governance section.
  • Take new perspective on data governance and recommend appropriate improvements to policies and guidelines.
  • Lead projects or projects steps that involves data governance.
  • Offer guidance on strategic and operational focuses and on needs related to data governance.
  • Carry out complex project analyses, identify findings, develop and implement solutions.
  • Performs any other tasks of a similar nature or of a general nature requested by their superior or required as part of their duties.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in a related field.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth experience of data governance and risks related to data use and exploitation.
  • Knowledge of Collibra or Purview is essential.
  • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) certification, an asset.
  • Knowledge of RDARR standards (Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting), an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Know how to prioritize and develop privileged contact with stakeholders.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Oral and written bilingualism.
  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
