RURAL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES

Recruitment Incentive Fund

  • 20,000 one-time payment, prorated for physicians working less than full-time
  • Fee Premium (%)

  • 25.62% paid on top of MSP billings or service contracts
  • Flat Fee

  • 38,880.18 annual flat fee payment paid to any physician that resides and practices in an eligible RSA community for a minimum 9 months per year and bills equal to or greater than $75,000 in the previous calendar year.
  • Relocation Funding

  • 9,000 (based on where you are relocating from –within BC)
  • 12,000 (based on where you are relocating from –moving within Canada outside BC)
  • 15,000 (based on where you are relocating from –moving from outside of Canada)
  • Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME)

  • Individual funds - $1,320 in first 2 years, $3,520 in 3rd / 4th year, $5,720 over 4 years
  • Rural CMPA Benefit (R-CMPA)

  • R-CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) provides eligible rural BC physicians with up to a 50% refund of CMPA fees , requiring 9 months of residency and practice in an RSA community and at least $75,000 in billing.
  • Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.
  • Qualifications

    Education, Licensing, & Experience

  • Licensing : Full or provisional license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC)
  • Mandatory Requirements : Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Emergency medicine experience
  • Professional Affiliation : Certification or eligibility for certification by the Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) is desired.
  • Desired Qualifications : Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Additional Information : The CARE course can be considered as an alternative for expired ATLS, ACLS, and PALS or NRP certifications
